2025 Sports Hall of Fame Inductee

Picture
Michael Keith Blair moved with his family to Hurst in 1965 and remained there until his move to Oklahoma in 1991. Mike began participating in sports at an early age through Mid-Cities Peewee Football, Mid-Cities Little Dribblers Basketball, and Tri-Cities Baseball. Mike’s Little Dribblers All-Star basketball team won multiple state championships and participated in three national tournaments. He credits the coaches at those levels for giving him a basic foundation in the sport.

Mike continued his development as a student-athlete at Hurst Junior High, excelling in basketball, football, and track. While at Hurst, Mike was selected to represent the 1979 AAU Texas National Team. When he entered L.D. Bell High School, Mike concentrated solely on basketball where he had an outstanding career and led the 1983 team to the district championship. His basketball accolades include: Sophomore of the Year in 1981; All-District 1st Team, All-Tarrant County 1st Team, and two-time tournament MVP in 1982; and All-District 1st Team, 3-time All-Tournament 1st Team, All-Tournament MVP, All-Tarrant County 1st Team, All-Region 1st Team, AllState 1st Team, and Texas High School All-Star Game MVP in Waco, Texas in 1983. Mike was offered a full athletic scholarship to attend Texas Christian University, where he played for Coach Killingsworth from 1983 to 1985. In 1989, he was selected MVP of the Texas Demolay National Tournament. Mike has repeatedly expressed gratitude to his HEB ISD teachers and coaches and says they were mentors as well as educators. He especially credits longtime Bell basketball coach Ray DeBord, who instructed and guided the “whole child” educationally, physically, and spiritually.

Mike has been a business owner for over 35 years and is the current owner of Circle D Pawn, 24-Hour Tan, Prodigy Vapor, and serves on the Board of Directors for Vapor Galleria. He is President of the Oklahoma Pawnbrokers Association and serves on the Special Advisory Board for the Oklahoma Department of Consumer Credit.

Mike married his best friend and fellow L.D. Bell student Elizabeth McHam, with whom he had a daughter, Krista. He has been happily married for 35 years to Christine Ross. They live in Moore, OK, and have two daughters, Brittany and Brianna. The family circle has grown to include five grandchildren: Alyssa, Colby, Addison, Olivia, and Mathew. He cherishes time spent with this family and is an advocate of dog rescue. He and Christine are proud owners of four dachshunds.

Mike spends his free time serving on the Host Team at Life Church Moore, working out, golfing, fishing, and mentoring new and upcoming business owners representing the pawn industry. Mike says he would be remiss if failed to mention the family support he has had throughout the years, particularly from his mother Sandra Bitz, tep-dad Joe Bitz, and aunt Pat Watson.
