Shelley attended Shady Oaks Elementary School, Bedford Junior High School and L.D. Bell High School. Shelley was a four-sport athlete in volleyball, basketball, track and softball at L.D. Bell High School. She was All-District Volleyball, All-State Volleyball, West All-State and one of the two top hitters in Texas.
Shelley was the very first volleyball athlete to receive a scholarship to Baylor University. In 1982, she was Rookie of the Year, All-Southwest Conference, Team Captain for two years, President of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and on the Dean’s list. In 1987, Shelley was the Head Volleyball Coach at Harrison High School. In 1990, Shelley returned to L. D. Bell High School to coach volleyball. In 1994, Shelley started the softball program at L.D. Bell High School. In her third season, L.D. Bell High School went to Regionals and ranked #9 in the state. Meanwhile, Shelley coached USVBA/Club Volleyball, Mid-Cities Volleyball Club, North Dallas Volleyball Club, Team North Texas and Victory Volleyball Club. From 2013-2016 Shelley was the Head Volleyball Coach at Air Academy High School in the United States Air Force Academy and the teams went to Regional all four years and State Championships twice. In 2013, Air Academy High School Volleyball Team was the Runner-Up Team in the State Championships. Currently, Shelley is the Boys Head Volleyball Coach at Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado and the Manager of Coaching Education for USA Volleyball. In her spare time, Shelley plays keyboard and guitar for the Blue Moll Band in Colorado Springs. |
