Vince Menard was a tennis star at L.D. Bell High School from 1978-1981. Vince played both #1 Singles and #1 Doubles. In 1979, as a sophomore Vince and his partner Jay Jones acquired the distinguished honor of District Doubles Champions, All District Doubles Champion, Regional Doubles Runner-Up, All Region Doubles Champion, and Quarter Finalist at the State Tennis Tournament. In 1980 and 1981, Vince was the District Singles Champion, All District Singles Champion, Regional Singles Champion, and All Region Singles Champion. In 1980, Vince was State Quarter Finalist. In 1981, Vince was State Semi-Finalist and All State Singles Champion.
Vince attended Texas Tech University on a tennis scholarship where he played singles from #1 - #6 position and played the number #1 double position from 1981-1985. Vince continues to play tennis almost every day and participates in a myriad of local, regional and national tournaments. He is also a partner in the Irving Tennis Classic, which is the 11th largest in the world and one of the most difficult professional tournaments annually held in the United States. A significant amount of funds raised in the Tennis Classic are given to Emily’s place, an outstanding organization that helps provide women of domestic violence abuse with a temporary, highly structured, Christian environment by which they can ‘bridge’ their transition toward a brighter and more secure future. |
