Jim moved his family to Bedford in 1989 and started coaching Mid-Cities Basketball in 1990. He then became League Commission, and Site Commissioner. He always had a heart for coaching and teaching basketball. It was his way to help players understand the importance of teamwork in building our community. For the last ten years, he has served as President of Mid-Cities Basketball. Jim feels blessed to have such a strong relationship with the school district in the pursuit of providing basketball opportunities for the students of HEB ISD.
For the last 28 years, Jim has been actively involved in a multitude of community endeavors across the entire HEB area. He provides his time, talent and services to 6Stones ministry through Operation Back-to-School, Night of Hope, and Pulling for Hope. He is immediate past Chairperson of the Tarrant County Mayors’ Council, Chairman of the HEB ISD Education Foundation, and the Chairman of the HEB Economic Development Foundation. Jim is a member of the executive board of the HEB Chamber of Commerce, Tarrant County 911 Board of Directors, Chair-elect of NE Leadership Foundation, and past chair of the Bedford Library Foundation, and a member of HEB Rotary. Currently, Mr. Griffin is serving his second term as the Mayor of Bedford where he continues to dedicate his life to serving his community. Jim has been married to his wife, Wynette for 39 years and they have a daughter, Liz who attended the HEBISD schools and played basketball for Harwood Junior High and Trinity High School. |
